Tech-giant Google has come up with it’s new initiative or we can say experiment called Google Contributor for ad-free browsing for internet users. Google announced the service 2 days ago.
According to the information available as of now, Google invites Internet users to donate or pay an amount ranging from 1$ to 3$. This will be a monthly rental which the users will pay voluntarily in order to browse their favorite sites ad-free. That is the websites currently serving Google Ads will show no ads, instead the money will flow from the users end to Google, which in turn will be paid to the websites.
Currently Google has partnered with 10 Publisher websites such as Mashable, Science Daily, imgur, WikiHow etc.
As this is currently in experiment phase thus the users who pay for participating in the experiment a monthly amount of 1$ to 3$ can visit those 10 websites and they won’t see any ads on them.
This seems to be a remarkable step in making the web ad-free.
Some Downsides to it are that there are websites which do not use Google Ads and thus the user will still be vulnerable to ads on other websites, which are not participating in the experiment. Thus the program may not benefit the users in it’s initial stage. However, the program may be beneficial to user in later stages when it is expanded other websites.
Similar to the past programs, Google Contributor program will also roll out in a slow fashion i.e . a few websites will not be showing ads, later on this will be expanded on to include more websites.
Do let us know what you think of this new experiment of Google, and if you are willing to participate in it either as Publisher or as a contributor.
